Departed Vanuatu on Air New Zealand 879 at 11am and arrived in NZ at 3.30pm.
It was a wonderful trip.

Saturday 11th July

Today we all went shopping in the morning. Lots of the girls had their hair braided.There was lost going on in the town. We made Cafe Nambaone our base and really checked out the markets. Then we wnet back to the hotel swam had lunch and then spent the afternoon at Mrs Malcolm's brother's house.
Our last night we all ate together at a feast BBQ.

Friday 10th July

"Man a cool day!" said Bronson.Big storm last night Early morning for some who went kayaking first. Group 1 fed the sharks, turtles not hungry then kayaked to the river end. Everyone was "stuffed,"said Thomas. Then the group went to Club Hippique for horse riding and lunch.
Group 2 went horseriding first. It was great to see children bare back riding into the lagoon to swim the horses.They kayaked 2nd. Long trip up the river. It was a great day and new experiences for many.
Pizza for dinner and sleepovers as tomorrow an easy day.
Shopping tomorrow.

Thursday 9th July

What a truly fabulous day according to the kids...."It was the best." We went to the Mele School and played soccer, did hakas and they sang,showed us their rooms and it was all about sharing. Then we toured through their village and finally got to Cascade Falls. Bernard our guide was outstanding. He made us many things out of the natural flora. When we reached the top of the falls we dived into caves, slid down rock faces and jumped off some very high banks. It was cool and the falls were in full flood which Mrs Malcolm has never seen in 18 years. Tonight we went to the Waterfront Cafe for hamburgers chips and icecream.Tomor5row is a huge day so a reasonably early night.

Tuesday 7th July and Wednesday 8th July

We started by going out to Ekasup Village - a traditional village where we were greated by men in grass clothing and spears. Great fun with the children enjoying the spiders the most. Later in the day we headed off to a local school - Vila East Primary where they sang songs and played soccer. In the evening we sat down to a Melanesian feast - the children were exhausted and went straight to bed.

Wednesday 8th
It was an early start - off on the Congoola boat for a fantastic day out on the ocean. The children picked up live turtles and we released one named Pegasus into the wild. Fantastic!!

Monday 6th July

Had a great day at Hideaway Island. The snorkelling was magnificent especially the snorkel safari off the back of the reef. Henri our dive guide threw fish food into the water and millions of coloured fish circled around us. Last night we went to Houstelet a French restuarant but we ate pizza. the parents went out to Chantillys. We then all croiwded into Mrs Malcom's room and watched the movie UP. It was a big day. Sorry we can't load up any photos the internet connection is really slow in Vanuatu butr we will add them to he blog when we get back to NZ. A reminder to parents we are 1 hour behind your time and it is good if you ring us on our vodaphone number as often hard to get out.

Ponsonby Primary Visits Vanuatu.

We have 47 parents, teachers and children going on a school trip to Vanuatu departing Auckland on Sunday 5th July. We are staying at the Melanesian Hotel and have 7 days of amazing activities. On our first day it is Bronson and Sela's birthdays. That night we have a Melanesian Feast. We will try and blog every day but sometimes the communication links are difficult out of Vanuatu.
